Dear 2006 Run Participant and Survivor Shari,
Help create a future without breast cancer
“The first time I ran in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure, it was a very powerful experience for me. I was blown away by the huge number of people and the messages of hope they wore on their participant bibs, including why and for whom they were all running for.
“On that first Run day, Noah, my eight-year-old son, was determined to run with me. This event was for both of us. It was an opportunity to take my life and my health back… to show my family and my friends that cancer had not won… to prove that on this day, we were trying to run cancer out of town.
“So every year, I don my runners and get caught up in the amazing crowds of people as a celebration of life and good health, in honour of those who are unable to run, and to show gratitude that I still can.”
Dianne,
Breast Cancer Survivor
You’ve helped Survivors just like you
Women from coast to coast owe you their warmest thanks for participating in last year’s Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure.
Steadily, we’re increasing our understanding about the ways to reduce breast cancer risk. The Foundation is contributing significantly through research and programs to the prevention of the disease, earlier detection, developing more effective treatments, and improving the quality of life for people with breast cancer.
Still, there is much more that can be done to create a future without breast cancer. That’s why we’re looking for your participation in our 2007 Run.
Once again, we’re asking you to lend us your energy and enthusiasm to give all women hope for a future without breast cancer. Who is better to spread this message than survivors like you?
Please take a moment to register for this year’s Run at https://www.cibcrunforthecure.com. Don’t forget to invite your friends and family to support you!
This year, we’ve designed a special commemorative t-shirt for breast cancer survivors to wear on Run day. You can get your t-shirt in advance at our Run kit pick up locations, or at your local Run site on Sunday, September 30th.
Free runners training for Survivors

To help you get physically ready if you opt to run or walk on Run day, New Balance Canada, Running Room and Walking Room are joining forces once again and offering a free 10-week training clinic.
These special clinics are open only to walkers and runners who are breast cancer survivors, and focus exclusively on women’s needs. In addition to tips on running and walking, you’ll learn more about stretching and general health. Consider the knowledge you’ll gain as your toolkit for long-lasting fitness!
All clinic participants will receive a free Running Room technical shirt, plus a New Balance hat and bag.
To see if there is a Survivor Clinic in your area, visit http://www.runningroom.com/hm/inside.php?id=2611. Clinics begin in July and registration is limited, so don’t delay… reserve your space today!
